Campsite located in the Chiricahua Mts. Many different routes to get here. From Benson we go past Tombstone to Davis Rd to Left on Hwy 191. Head North a few miles until you come to Rucker Canyon Rd. From there follow your GPS.
Nice get together for old and new cachers.No big games to play at this event. Some new caches by us and a few more by another team. There are also some old caches out this way. One good cache to catch is Camp Rucker. Good History there.
Just a fun get together for geocachers to swap stories and tell lies. Also, nightly chat without a campfire.
Group site for camping is reserved and PAID from 2:00 pm on Fri thru 2:00 pm on Sunday for those who want to camp. We will be camping Fri-Sun. Have toilets. No water at this campground.
Elevation 5,533.
Coords for NEW CACHES will be handed out at 9:00 AM on SATURDAY. New caches will be published later in the week so all attendees to this campout can have a chance for FTF.
LUNCH AT NOON . For the lunch on Saturday we will provide hamburgers/hot dogs/buns and the condiments. Also potato salad, dessert, chips, paperwear (plates, napkins, plastics). You're invited to bring a dish to share but you don't have to. BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES.
NOTICE: Some people have asked if quads and dirt bikes are allowed in this area. As far as we know, they are allowed but they are subject to Arizona State Land Department rules, which now includes the purchase of an annual OHV Decal.(See the OHV Decal FAQ for further details) We also have a few rules we will impose for the group.
1) Off highway vehicle use is restricted to existing maintained roads per USFS.
2) Do not ride directly through the main camp.
3) Please keep quads, atv's and dirt bikes on the periphery of the camp area.
4) Restrict your speed to an idle when within at least 1/4 mile of the main camp area.
5) Ride respectfully and keep the dust to a minimum.
CORONADO NATIONAL FOREST FIRE RESTRICTIONS
Stage II Fire Restrictions Across the Forest Starting May 10
Tucson, AZ (May 10, 2011) – Coronado National Forest will implement Stage II fire
restrictions across the Forest beginning May 10, 2011. Restrictions will remain in place
until July 18 or until they are rescinded due to decreased fire danger.
The restrictions have become necessary due to increased fire danger and are being
implemented to protect public health, safety and National Forest System lands, resources
and facilities.
Current prohibitions on all ranger districts of the Coronado National Forest are:
1. Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood
stove fire, including within a developed recreation site or improved site. Exception:
The use of petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns, or heating devices is allowed so long as
such devices meet the fire underwriter’s specifications for safety.
2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site,
or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter, that is barren or cleared of
all flammable material.
3. Using an explosive.
4. Operating an internal combustion engine. Exception: Motor vehicles.
5. Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark
arresting device properly installed, maintained, and in effective working order
meeting either the Department of Agriculture Forest Service Standard 5100-1a, or
appropriate Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) recommended practice J335 (b)
and J350 (a).
6. Welding or operating acetylene or other torch with open flame.
7. Possessing or using a motor vehicle off National Forest System roads. Exceptions:
Parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of the roadway, or parking in
Forest Service developed campgrounds and trailheads.
8. Discharging a firearm, except while engaged in a lawful hunt pursuant to state,
federal, or tribal laws and regulations.
Prohibitions are temporary and will be lifted when fire restrictions expire. Violation of the
prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 fororganizations, imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. Fireworks are always
prohibited on National Forest lands.
