Geocache Description:

This cache is a historical and geographical tour to a bridge, which is previously called Kawabata-Bashi.

The listed coords is just for pointing to this bridge, Kawabata-Bashi. It's not the coords of Final GZ.

Historical Questions:

Question A:
A lady writer has written an essay about this bridge called "Meet Kawabata-Bashi" (visit link). She told that the scenery of sunset on this bridge almost made her falling to her knees and praying. This lady has been a reporter, visited and lived at Taipei before. How many weeks have she spent to go around Taiwan as she has mentioned in this essay? The answer is A.

Question B:
This bridge is also very famous in one of Views of Zhonghe Township about moonlight reflection on the wave of the river underneath this bridge. How many famous Views are there around Zhonghe Township? The number is B.

Question C:
When this bridge is first built at year 1938, how long (in meter) is this bridge? The answer is C (3 digits). Hint: xx4 meters.

Question D:
The present name of this bridge is different, it is changed by a previous Mayor of Zhonghe Township. How many times have he won the election of the Major of Zhonghe Township? The answer is D.

Geographical Waypoints:

Now, let's take on some tour around this bridge. Please be very very careful for your safety when you walk or bike around this bridge. The traffic on this bridge is very very busy.

Waypoint E (N25 01.297, E121 30.989):
Please go under this bridge to waypoint E. You could find a wooden ruler mounted on one of piers. The purpose of this ruler is for measuring the water level of the running river. Normally, such kinds of rulers are made by painting or metals. But this ruler is made by wood, which is quite unique, now. If you watch this ruler close enough, you could still tell that those tree annual rings are still clearly identified on the ruler. There are digits on the ruler marking the height of water level. Please count those digits, what's the highest number? The answer is E (2 digits).

Waypoint F (N25 01.302, E121 30.988):
Now, please go upon the bridge to waypoint F. Be careful now to the traffic. There is a side walkway on the bridge. Please walk on it. Don't run into the car road. Here, you could see the present name of this bridge. In year 1971, this bridge have been maintained and a man signed the name for it. He is also the (F)th President of Republic of China. What's the number of F?

Waypoint E (N25 01.297, E121 30.989):
Please go under the bridge and back to waypoint E, agin. Please look for a sign as the photo below.

The text on the sign is...

The number covered by yellow dot is G.

Waypoint H (N25 01.199, E121 30.972):
Now you could go under this side of bridge from waypoint G to waypoint H, where is the best location to looks closely to those piers of this bridge. Those piers look like letter 'm'. But looking carefully, piers of this bridge could be obviously separated into two types, 'n' and 'i'. The 'n' type is built at Japan-Ruled Age. The 'i' type is built afterward. Look cross the river, how many type 'n' piers which stands in the river and not painted in blue color? The answer is H.

Final GZ:

Now, enough sight touring. The final GZ could be calculated with these answers and numbers. Please use following equations to examine your answers and numbers...

(A + B + C + D) mod 7 = 3
(E + F + G + H) mod 7 = 4

where mod is modular arithmetic. If you're not sure what is modular, please check wiki page for more information.

You should come here at evening for a sunset. I believed that our lady reporter in Question A first met Kawabata-Bashi, here, at Final GZ.

N25 01.(C - A*4 - B*3 - D*8)
E121 31.(E*2 + F*2 + G + H - 1)
