Cache is a nano on a metal bridge. Bring tweezers to remove the log. Please search for the cache with your eyes, so that it does not get knocked into the tidal river. :)
Cache is located on the Brooklyn Bridge in Frankfort, ME. This is not a kid friendly site as there are no railings to prevent toddlers and pets from falling off the bridge into Marsh Stream. There used to be another cache here, and it was muggled several times and then archived. High muggle area. Cache is a magnetic nano painted the same color as the bridge. You may park on either end of the bridge. There is an active eel trapping group here, so please do not night cache. Feel free to walk the length of the bridge (you can't drive on it) and take in the views of this historic town. At one time this town was one of the most prosperous in the country! This bridge was built in 1908, and was used to get to Bangor, before the bridge over the dam was installed. Looking down stream, you can see the marsh area, where ships docked to pick up Mt Waldo, formerly Mt Misery, granite and take it all over the east coast to build both buildings and monuments. If you look upstream, toward town, you will see our beautiful and historic church, next to what is the town office now, but was the Frankfort High School. Across the street is the Waldo Pierce Reading Room. Picture, if you will, that behind the WPRR there was a huge hotel/boarding home, next to the rail road tracks, while at the sharp curve on Rt 1A, there was a bustling down town area, unfortunately all lost to fire. If you come during WPRR hours, ask the librarian to show you the many historic documents and old photos of this once booming town, which now has only 950 residents.
