Geocache Description:

This is a fun multi-puzzle cache that highlights some good conservation work being done by a big corporate. PLEASE STAY ON THE PATHWAYS UNTIL YOU ARE 20m FROM THE CACHE.

This cache is hidden in an area of unique biodiversity next to a Shell-stop on the N14 west. It is a place where bullfrogs flourish and breed. The cache is not at the published co-ordinates. While you can access the cache from the back road, this is being fenced up. Parking co-ords are provided...

Take some time to walk along the grassland route and admire the views of Lanseria and the Cradle of Humankind before heading off to the bullfrog pond and the information boards at the published co-ordinates.
Unfortunately these boards have been removed. (We're hoping it is temporarily for maintenance.) The answers to each question have been provided.

Working out the Final Co-ordinates

  1. Read about the "African Giant Bullfrog"...
How many "teeth-like" projections does the male have? He has three "teeth"
    (Call this A)
How many days do the eggs take to hatch? Two days
    (Call this B)
How big (in mm) are the froglets after 18-20 days? They are 20mm big
    (Call this C)
  2. Look at the sign about the region's biodiversity (birds and animals)
How many birds are pictured here? There are 24 birds
    (Call this D)
How many animals (not birds) are pictured here? There are 12 non-bird animals
    (Call this E)
  3. Look at the other sign about the region's biodiversity (plants) (Count Carefully!)
How many plants are pictured here? (Count them all)There are 16 plants
    (Call this F)

The cache is at: S25 57.XXX E027 57.0YY
where:
  • XXX=XXX=((A+D)x(F+E+A))
  • YY=B+B+B+C+D+E+F
Afterwards go and have a cuppa in the store nearby and read all the interesting info on eco-friendly construction techniques...

Although the cache is in an area that looks fenced off, there is no fence on the other side and there is evidence that the property is used as a thoroughfare. Please use the usual precautions and please do not go at night as you will betray the cache location with flashing torches.

You can cross the footbridge to get the cache on the other side if you have not found that one yet...

This cache was part of the "Curse of the FTF" series. These kind of series have been disallowed and so this cache has been altered to stand-alone mode. The series was started by Wormgeocache and was awesome fun. Cachers understood the spirit of the series and a number of lovely caches were planted and many cachers who had never had an FTF had the opportunity to do so. Thank you to the Worm for creativity! While we understand that rules are rules, we're glad that we could participate in this one and that the series, in spite of the reviewer's misgivings, achieved the positive purpose it was set up for.

For interest sake the caches in the (now discontinued) series were:
