You are looking for a small clip lock box. You do not
have to descend into the bunker to retrieve the cache.
The cache is located near to a decommissioned Royal Observer Corps
observation post, one of over a 1000 that were constructed during
the Cold War. For more information on the Royal Observer Corps and
these posts Click
Here
On last inspection, the post was unlocked. The construction appears
to be sound, but there were very little of the original features
left inside, other than a cupboard and some of the original
photographic paper.
(04.09.11 - Current status: Owners have locked the entrance hatch
with padlock and chain)
Please be aware though, that this post, unlike some others that
caches have been placed near or in, is actually now on private
property. The landowner can see the post from their house. If you
want to take a look inside, it would be polite to ask them first.
Their house is the first one on the same side of the road as the
post, less than half a mile west from it. They were happy to let
xJammmzy and I descend to take photos when we asked.
If you only want to do the cache, or take photos of the outside of
the post from the road side of the gate, there is no need to bother
the owners.
Long term parking is tricky due to the narrow lanes, but if you are
just doing a quick cache and dash then there is enough room to pull
in beside the gate to the entrance of the post compound.
If you enjoyed this cache you will be sure to enjoy ROC bunker
cache GC1782Z.
