Strange to say up to now there is not one geocache on Taveuni. It is the third biggest island in Fiji with a unique landscape and nature which is known beyond country´s frontiers and which is divided into today and yesterday by the 180° meridian. As for me it is really time for Taveuni to have its own cache.
It´s not surprising that Taveuni is called “The Garden Island”, as its climate is warm and moist. Hot summer weather is often followed by showery breaks. A colorful carpet of palms, tropical flowers and dense rainforest covers the island. Everywhere fruits and vegetables prosper en masse. You can have coconut, papaya or pineapples without going to expensive supermarkets. Just pick them.
There are different ways of reaching Taveuni. According to your wishes and travelplans you can go by ferry from Suva or by plane from Suva or Nadi. Although it is much faster and more comfortable to traval by plane the bigger adventure is to join the twenty hour ferry ride.
The cache itself is hidden in the far north of Taveuni in the small town of Matei. It is very appropriate that it is situated directly in one of the many beautiful gardens on the island. It is a middle size plastic container suitable for several coins and travelbugs. Don´t hesitate!!
In order to find the cache you will have to enter the garden wonderland of Bibi´s Hideaway. You are welcome to look around and ask for "Paulina" or even "mention Geocaching or GPS". The people living here are very friendly and are amazed by our great hobby. Together with the attached spoiler pic it should be not a big problem to log this cache!!
