Easy traditional cache at Latupirtti (“ski trail cottage”)
Latupirtti on Mikkelin Ladun omistama suosittu hiihtokohde, jonne pääsee hiihtäen useasta eri paikasta ja tarvittaessa myös autolla, polkupyörällä tai jalkaisin. Pisin reitti lähtee Kalevankankaalta (10 km), lyhyemmät Rantakylästä ja Otavasta (n. 7 km). Paikalliset saattavat tietää myös muita lähtöpaikkoja, esimerkiksi Vanhamäentieltä matkaa on vain 2 km.
Aurinkoisena kevätpäivänä ole varovainen kätköä etsiessäsi, et varmasti ole yksin! Tosin, paikalla tiedetään kätköstä ja geokätköily on osa Suomen Ladun toimintaa.
Hiihtosesongin aikana pirtillä on kahvilatoimintaa. Aukioloilmoituksia on pirtille johtavien latujen lähtöpaikoilla sekä Mikkelin ladun verkkosivuilla. Latupirtillä järjestetään myös koko perheen liikuntapäiviä ja kesäisin suunnistusta (1-2 kertaa). Latupirtti saunoineen on myös vuokrattavissa.
Kulje talvella hiihtouran reunaa, älä tallo latua. Aamun aikaisimmat saattavat kohdata latukoneen. Tietä pitkin tuleville on sinivalkoinen viitoitus Korpikoskentieltä. Jos viittoja ei näy risteyksissä lumen alta, valitse käytetyin tie.
Ota jokin työkalu mukaan, saatat tarvita sitä! Aseta kätkö huolellisesti takaisin.
Latupirtti is a popular cross-country skiing destination and is owned by Mikkelin Latu. You can get there either with skies or by car, bicycle or by foot. The longest route starts from Kalevankangas (10 km), shorter ones from Rantakylä and Otava (7 km). Local people might also know other places from where you can start shorter ski trip! Eg. from Vanhamäentie the journey is only 2 km.
Be careful if you look for the cache on sunny spring day, you certainly aren’t alone at the cottage! Although, cache is informed for the staff and geocaching is part of activities that Suomen Latu organization presents for people.
During cross-country skiing season there is cafeteria at the cottage. You can check opening hours from websites or from ski track start points. There are a few sport days for whole family every year and orienteering in summer time (1-2 times). You can also rent the cottage and sauna.
Please use the side of the ski track during winter, don’t tread on ski track. You might meet ski track machine in the morning. If you use the road, there is blue-white signs from Korpikoskentie. If you can’t see signs because of snow cover, choose the most used road.
Take a tool with you, it might be helpful! Please set the cache back properly.
