The story ...
[EN] Silver, precious metal of white colour (chemical symbol Ag), has been used by man since antiquity. It has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of all metals. It is used as a part of different alloys for electronics, for production of CDs and DVDs and in jewelry. Its compounds are necessary for photography as well. It is quite rare in the earthshell with mean occurrence about 0,07-0,1 mg/kg. Its concentration in sea water is about 3 micrograms/liter. The silver occurs naturally in its pure, free form (native silver), but much more frequently in minerals. Huge and heavy peaces (hundreds of kilograms) of native silver have been found. The biggest piece of silver ever found had 1350 kg and was discovered in Mexico in 1736 v Mexiku near Arizona rancho (few miles south from the border of current state Arizona).

The top silver-producing countries are Mexico, Canada, Peru, Australia and USA. A lot of silver ore has been produced in Bohemia in Middle Ages. The best known is town Kutna Hora in this respect, where known silver Grossi Pragense were minted

Silver has been mined in Kamenici nad Lipou as well. The silver ore has been digged from one tunnel made in Melisek Hill with entrance located towards the town side Predmesti. There has been also respective technology for ore processing located. The mine was active between 1720 and 1736, but its gain was hardly worth of all efforts. The crazing-mill has been destroyed by high waters in 1736, and it was the end of mining. There was an attempt to re-open the mine led by neighbours Drbal and Perlik in 1833, but without any result and all activities ended a year later.

For safety reasons the entrance to the mine have been mured up and ventilator was backfilled. However, the remains of ventilator are still visible on western slope of the hill.

[CZ] Stribro (chemicka znacka Ag) je uslechtily kov bile barvy, pouzivany clovekem jiz od staroveku. Vyznacuje se nejlepsi elektrickou a tepelnou vodivost ze vsech znamych kovu. Slouzi jako soucast ruznych slitin pro pouziti v elektronickem prumyslu, vyrobe CD i DVD nosicu a sperkarstvi, jeho slouceniny jsou nezbytne pro fotograficky prumysl. V zemske kure se stribro vyskytuje pouze vzacne. Prumerny obsah cini kolem 0,07-0,1 mg/kg. V morske vode je jeho koncentrace priblizne 3 mikrogramy v jednom litru. V prirode se stribro obvykle vyskytuje ve slouceninach, vzacne vsak i jako ryzi kov. Byly nalezeny kompaktni kusy stribra a to i znacnych rozmeru a hmotnosti i nekolika set kilogramu. Nejvetsi kus stribra na svete mel hmotnost 1350 kg a byl nalezen roku 1736 v Mexiku u rance Arizona (nekolik mil na jih od hranic nynejsiho americkeho statu Arizona).

Nejvetsimi svetovymi producenty stribra jsou Mexiko, Kanada, Peru, Australie a USA. V Cechach se ve stredoveku dobyvalo znacne mnozstvi stribrnych rud. Nejznamejsi lokalitou je patrne Kutna Hora - krome dobyvani a rafinace stribra zde vznikla i kralovska mincovna, kde byly razeny zname stribrne grose.

Stribro se dolovalo i v Kamenici nad Lipou. Ruda se kopala v jedné stole na Melisku z Predmesti, kde byly umisteny i stupky a puchyrna ke zpracovani stribrne rudy. Dolovani probihalo v letech 1720 az 1736, ale prilis se nevyplacelo. V roce 1736 vzala puchyrnu a stupky velka voda, což znamenalo konec dolování. O obnovu težby se pokusili v roce 1833 sousede Drbal a Perlik, ale bez vysledku a pokus byl ukoncen o rok pozdeji.

Z bezpecnostnich duvodu byly vchody do dulniho dila zazdeny a vetraci sachta zasypana. Zbytky vetraci sachty jsou vsak na zapadnim uboci Melisku patrny dodnes.


How to hunt the cache / Jak na kes
[EN] Before you go for the hunt I would recommend you to ask "uncle" Google for advice to get some useful info.

2. How is called the most important silver mineral (stable at normal temperature)?
a) argentite (B=7)
b) pyrargyrite (B=8)
c) akanthite (B=9)

There is no cache at initial coordinates N 49° 18.111 E 015° 04.784 , but the object located nearby is worth of visiting. Moreover, there is information panel with three year dates there. Subtract 1000 from the second year date and you will get number CDE.
The castle garden, where the information panel is located is open only from 1.April to 31.October between 7:00 and 20:00. If the gate is closed for this or any other reason, do not panic, you will only have to solve one puzzle more.
Turn about and you will see big stone some 60 meters away from garden gate. There is the memorial display on the stone with the year when the town was settled. The year you are looking for is indeed a different one, but fortunately contains the same combination of digits. Calculate the coordinates by using all five possibilities. Three of them can be eliminated on the fist look, from the remaining two take that one closer to your current position at the stone.

So you have everything necessary to go remains of ventilator located at N 49° 1A.BAE E 015° 0E.CED. Due to hill slope location the signal may vary slightly, so do not hesitate to use hint.

Write down the number FGH from the stone wall of ventilator. Now you can finish the hunt at coordinates

Na uvodnich souradnicich N 49° 18.111 E 015° 04.784 kes sice nenajdete, ale prilehly geoobjekt rozhodne stoji za navstevu. Nachazi se tu vsak informacni cedule se třemi letopocty. Od druheho letopoctu odectete 1000 a ziskate cislo CDE.
Zamecka zahrada, v niz se cedule nachazi, je pristupna pouze od 1.dubna do 31.rijna v dobe od 7:00 do 20:00. Pokud z tohoto nebo jineho duvodu není mozne vstoupit, není duvod k panice, jen to budete mit o trochu tezsi.
Otocte se a ve vzdalenosti cca 60 metru od vchodu do zahrady uvidite velky kamen. Na nem je pametni deska s rokem zalozeni mesta. Hledany letopocet se od letopoctu zalozeni mesta samozrejme lisi, ale nastesti obsahuje stejnou kombinaci cislic. Dosadte tedy vsech pet moznosti do vzorce a vypocitejte souradnice. Tri z nich muzete vyloucit na prvni pohled a ze zbylych dvou pouzijte tu, která je bliz k vasi aktuální pozici u kamene.

Takze nyni uz mate vse potrebne a muzete vyrazit k pozustatkum vetraci sachty, která se nachazi na souradnicich N 49° 1A.BAE E 015° 0E.CED. Diky poloze na uboci kopce zde GPS signal lehce kolisa, nestydte se proto pouzit napovedu.
