Coton Past is situated in a strip of woodland, overlooking a field showing evidence of Mediaeval ridge and furrow ploughing. Cache was originally placed in a copse (patch of woodland) which was used for shelter for centuries by domesticated animals, including plough horses on their lunch breaks, resulting in plenty of nitrogen in the soil to promote nettle growth. A barbed wire topped fence was installed in late spring 2017, making it impossible to reach original cache site. New site still has some nettles, but fewer than original site. No nettles during winter, though. Please ensure you camoflage box with sticks.

Adjacent to concrete cycle track / footpath - you can lock bikes to fence at gate.

Free guide leaflets with map are usually available from rack in covered noticeboards, one at northern end of spine route (concrete track for bikes etc) and the other in Martin Car Park - will be helpful if you continue into reserve to find others in Coton Past, Present & Future series.

Cache is a 650ml plastic box.
