Geocache Description:

A virtual baking competition.

Forage and buy ingredients from the Priory Fields nature reserve. Then bake them into sweet and savoury treats.

The more ingredients you collect the more items you can bake. Finding them all is not trivial and may take a couple of attempts. However, you do not need to collect them all to claim the cache.

The crown of Star Baker awaits anyone who collects all the ingredients.
If you wish to enter the baking competition please list what you baked in your log and email me your saved game (gws file). I will then compare competition entries and present virtual awards!

The current standings in the Bake Off are:

For a perfect honey nut palmier, a gold award goes to AJIGeo, The Webbies (including Bunsen Honeydew), The Cuthies & Max, volcane, TAG, Lime Candy, SOAPY Chickens, HKMHill, Spunky Spider, le6o, cs278, and gaz_zippy.
For a delicious danish, a silver award goes to Harry the furry squid.
For a tasty apple pie, a merit award goes to thebedfords.

What to expect with this Wherigo.

Expect mud.
There are no hard paths in the nature reserve. Waterproof footwear is essential; either good boots or wellies. Even the towpath gets muddy after a wet spell of weather.

Expect to be playing for about an hour
On my last two tests of this cartridge it took me 35 minutes to walk the course; from the starting point to the cache, visiting all zones.
Add thinking time to this and I estimate it'll take about an hour to complete the game.

Do not expect to be prompted what to do next.
This is not a tour guide. The cartridge plays as a game. Therefore you'll be expected to:
  • Read your tasks and look at the locations list to work out where to go next.
  • Talk to the characters to get information.
  • Think about the problem you're facing and what item you could use to solve that problem.
  • Read the description of items to get hints about what can be done with them.

Compatibility

I have tested this game on my PocketPC.
Past experiences of building Wherigos tells me that other devices (particularly Garmins) are not as capable as my PocketPC. Although I've deliberately limited zones, nodes and text in this cartridge I can't be sure it is compatible with Garmin or the iPhone.

If you do play this on other hardware please let me (and others) know whether you have success.
