This cache is a homage to the original can man.
come visit his memorial,and ponder its locale.!
I have yet to find a great deal of detail about John William Deane Jnr.
I think he was a homless man who collected cans to pay his way.
he was a well known character around Gosford in the 70's, long before geocaching.
I found a plaque dedicated to him ( at the posted co-ords) on a walk one day .
And thought "Can Man" cache cans maybe ammo tins, maybe not seeing as it was 1977 when the plaque went in!
I just had to put a cahce here.
If you have any information about John, or the legend of "The Can Man" please post it in your Find log, and Ill update the cache listing with it.
The cache container for this cahce is a small ( 375 ml approx) container so small swaps are welcome, but its mainlyy a log only.
Information about the can man so far:
Shifter brains: Saw him collecting cans in the streets when they moved to the area, and that he would stop at the location of the plaque to crush up his cans.
