L' ancienne abbaye cistercienne de Boschaud, dont les ruines sommeillent au creux d'un vallon entouré de bois et de prés sur la commune de Villars, fut fondée en 1145. En 1163, elle devint cistercienne, dans la filiation de Clairvaux. Elle a connu une révolte des moines contre les abbés au XIIIe, un pillage en 1342, les guerres de Religion et la Fronde. Ruinée au XVe, elle passage en commende puis est transformée en ferme en 1791 avant le coup fatal de la Révolution. On peut encore découvrir les ruines du cloître et d'une église à file de coupoles, trésor unique.

The former Cistercian Abbey of Boschaud, whose ruins sleep in the hollow of a valley surrounded by woods and meadows in the commune of Villars, was founded in 1145. In 1163 it became Cistercian, under the ruling of Clairvaux. It has seen an uprising of the monks against the abbots in the 13th century, a looting in 1342, the wars of Religion and the Frond civil war. Destroyed in the 15th century, it faded away and then turned into a farm in 1791 before the fatal blow of the revolution. You can still discover the ruins of the cloister and the church domes, a unique treasure.
