Himberg / Königstuhl EarthCache

Die bizzare Form der Basaltkuppe Himberg, im Sprachgebrauch der umliegenden Ortschaften auch Königstuhl genannt, ist ein Ausläufer des Vogelsberg Vulkans.

Der Himberg ist dem Neozoikum (Erdneuzeit) einzuordnen und gehört mit zu den am weitesten enfernten Ausläufern des größten geschlossenen Basaltmasiv Europas. Das Vogelsberg Vulkangebiet besteht aus vielen Einzelvulkanen. Durch den Vulkanismus wurden vor allem basaltische Lavaergüsse und pyroklastische Ablagerungen gebildet, so auch am Himberg mit seiner Basaltkuppe.

Heute besteht im ehemaligen mittelhessischen Vulkangebiet keine Gefahr mehr: Die heißen Lavaströme des Teritär sind versiegt und die feuerspeienden Vulkane sind erloschen.

Basaltmagma wird durch teilweises Aufschmelzen des Erdmantels, ausgelöst durch die zum Erdkern hin steigenden Temperaturen, gebildet. Ein Hinweis für den langen Weg des Gesteins ist desen Zusammensetzung des Gesteins ist das sogenannte Olivinknollen enthalten sind.

Beim Austreten des kieselsäurearmes Magma an der Erdoberfläche erkaltet dies relativ schnell und es entsteht Basalt. Bei verzögerter Abkühlung entstehen jedoch oft eckige Basaltsäulen. Basaltgestein ist dunkelgrau bis schwarz.

Um den Königstuhl ranken sich Sagen un Mythen. Von der Richterstätte bis hin zum "Riesensitz" reichen Überlieferungen.

Um den Cache zu loggen beantworte folgende Fragen und maile diese, danach darfst Du loggen bei Problemen melden wir uns.

• Vor wieviel Millionen Jahren sind die Vulkankuppen wie der Rimberg entstanden?
• Der Himberg oder Königstuhl trug noch zwei weitere Namen, nenne diese.
• Welche Höhe zeigt dein GPS bei der bizarren Form?
• Mache ein Bild von Dir oder einem persöhnlichen Gegenstand und deinem Geocachingnamen/Geocachinglogo auf einem Papier mit der bizaaren Form. Lade es bitte mit dem Log hoch. Erspart euch die Mühe Bearbeitungen mit Photosphop oder ähnlichen, um z.B. Namen im Bild einzufügen, zu erstellen.
• Auf der Infotafel wird noch eine weitere Sage/Mythos gennant. Welcher ist dies?
