En sortant du nid au merle Multi-cache

Tout le monde connaît l'expression "un travail de bénédictin", un peu moins de monde la Bénédictine, liqueur fabriquée à Fécamp, et sans doute encore moins la liste des 4 communautés de bénédictines fondée en Bretagne au Moyen-Age*. Cette cache vous permet de découvrir les restes de l'une d'entre elles, fondée au plus tard au XIIème siècle à Saint-Sulpice-la-Forêt, dont l'abbatiale est dédiée à Notre-Dame-du-Nid-au-Merle en référence à une légende racontant qu'un berger avait trouvé une statue de la Vierge dans un nid.

Commencez par parcourir la partie des ruines de l'abbaye ouverte au public et cherchez les restes d'un panneau explicatif au fond de la nef principale (point N48 13.161 W1 34.469). Noter le nombre A de poutres qui subsistent dans le mur derrière vous si vous regardez la croisée du transept.

Allez ensuite au milieu du transept, levez la tête et comptez le nombre B de corbeaux restants (culots de pierres qui supportaient un plancher à belle hauteur).

Après la visite des restes de l'abbaye (attention à ne pas déranger les chauves souris qui y logent), sortez et aller découvrir au point N48 13.156 W1 34.518 l'ancien moulin à eau de l'abbaye, décoré au XVème aux armes de l'abbesse Jeanne Millon (sculpture hélas fortement dégradée). Comptez le nombre C de pierres composant le montant droit de la porte (base et chapiteau inclus).

Allez ensuite contempler la facade de la chapelle de Notre-Dame-sur-l'Eau (point N48 13.150 W1 34.575), qui a servi de bâtiment de ferme et dont la restauration semble être commencée : "admirez" la façon dont la chapelle a été mise hors d'eau et comptez le nombre D de contreforts protégés de la pluie.

La cache se trouve au point N48 13.(C-D)A(B-D) W01 34.(C+D-A)D(C+D).

Leaving the blackbird's nest

In France, lots of people know that "bénédictin work" means hard work, a bit less know that "bénédictine" is a liquor made in Fécamp (Normandy), much less know that 4 medieval benedictine abbeys for women were founded in Britany* : the Abbaye "Notre-Dame du Nid-au-Merle" ("Our-Lady of the Blackbird's Nest") is one of them, founded in the XIIth century, named from a legend stating that a shepherd found a Virgin statue in a nest. The cache will allow you to discover the nice ruins of its roman church.

First go at the remains of an information panel in the nave of the church (point N48 13.161 W1 34.469) and note the number A of wooden beams that survived in the wall behind you if you face the transept crossing.

Then go admire the transept and count the number B of remaining corbels (stones that used to support the top floor).

After visiting the remains of the abbey, go find the watermill (point N48 13.156 W1 34.518 ) and look at its door decorated with the arms of the abbess Jeanne Millon (XVth century). Count the number C of stones of the column supporting the top of the door on the right side (including the base and the capital).

Finally, go in front of the chapell "Notre-Dame-sur-l'Eau" ("Our-Lady-above-the-Water") at point N48 13.150 W1 34.575, "admire" how it was restaured and preserved from the rain damages : count the number D of decorated buttresses that got a small roof.
