Geocache Description:

A 1 litre cache placed at the bottom of the woods adjacent to a field.

Guildford Chantries - SouthWest. One of a series of nine.

The cache is a 1 litre food container.

The Chantries form part of the ridge of the North Downs, just to the South of Guildford. Chantry Wood is 78 hectares of mixed woodland and an Area of High Ecological Value within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in striking distance of Guildford Town Centre.

The Chantries are popular with walkers (and dogs) all year. Rabbits, deer, badgers and foxes live wild there. In April/May the wooded area is a mass of bluebells. The top of the hill has open fields with stunning views to the south.

The cache is a 1 litre food container 1m from the fence in an alcove under small treelets just to the east of a bigger tree-pair. The southern trunk is 'big medium' and the northern one is 'small medium' (whatever that means). A waypoint is given for a good place to leave the path and to head downhill hugging the eastern edge of the woven enclosure and carrying on in the same direction.

The cache has been seeded with some initial "treasures" including bubbles, bouncy ball, yoyo, animal snap, aeroplane kit. The "FirstTo Find" trophy went to Amberel.

Please ensure that the cache is left with the lid firmly on to keep the contents dry and is well hidden.

Good hunting. You may also be interested in my other caches.

Please only log a find if you have signed the log. If you haven't, try adding a "write note" instead. Thanks.
