Ven y disfruta de la hermosa panorámica de Bogotá y sus alrededores. El Cerro de Monserrate tiene en su cima el Santuario del Señor Caído, lugar de peregrinación de nacionales y extranjeros, rodeado de una exuberante vegetación y desde donde se aprecia el mejor paisaje de la sabana de Bogotá. Por más de 400 años peregrinos y amantes de la naturaleza han visitado el santuario. En este lugar se reune el fervor religioso, el disfrute de la naturaleza, la gastronomía y el turismo. Ven y por este cache y no te arrepentirás!
En 1640 Don Juan De Borja presidente del Nuevo Reino de Granada, autorizó la construcción de una capilla en el Cerro de Monserrate dedicada a la Virgen Morena de Monserrat de Barcelona, España. En 1657 se terminó de construir un monasterio y años más tarde se trajo el monumento del Señor Caído obra del gran maestro Bogotano Pedro de Lugo y Albarracín.
Puedes subir al Cerro de Monserrate en funicular, teleférico o a pie. El camino de acceso a pie se encuentra en restauración y muy pronto sera abierto al público.

This small cache (Bring your own pen) is located in the Hill of Monserrate, a gorgeous symbol of Bogotá. It is located at 10487 feet above sea level (3180 masl). Come and enjoy the beautiful landscape, its peak houses the sanctuary “del Señor Caído,” favorite place of pilgrimage for both local and foreign people. For more than four centuries, pilgrims and nature lovers have visited the sanctuary. They search for peace, forgiveness and reconciliation they also can enjoy the best of gastronomy and tourism. Come for this hunt and you will not regret it!
In 1640 Don Juan De Borja president of the New Kingdom of Granada, authorized the construction of a chapel devoted to the Virgen Morena whose sanctuary is located in Barcelona, Spain. In 1657 a monastery was finally built with support of local people, and years later host the monument of “El Señor Caído” a master piece made by the great local artist Pedro de Lugo y Albarracín.
You can reach the top of the hill by funicular (railway train), teleférico (cable railway) or by feet. The rocky stairs are now under restauration jobs and this access will be open soon to the public.
