Geocache Description:

This is a puzzle cache, which means the cache is not at the above coordinates. Solve the puzzle to find the cache. This is the 10^th cache in the It’s a Small World series. The purpose of the series is to hide caches that instruct others about places around the world. The series will (eventually) consist of 80 countries (and caches). Adding to the series is greatly encouraged, but make sure you represent the next country in the order that is found below.

Brazil (Brasil) gained its independence in 1822, after 300 years of Portuguese rule. A monarchical government was founded and sustained until a republic was created in 1889. Interestingly, slavery was abolished in Brazil just a year earlier. However, Brazilian coffee exporters politically influenced the country until 1930. Getulio Vargas came to power and formed a populist and militaristic government. This lasted for over 50 years when, in 1985, the military government surrendered its powers to civilian rulers. No changes in regime have occurred since.

Brazil is the largest country in South America, in land and population. It is the only country in the Americas where Portuguese is the official language. The top issues in Brazil include extremely unequal income distribution and crime. However, due to Brazil’s extensive natural resources and substantial labor the country is leading the rest of South America to economic recovery. Order and progress.
