Mews is a primarily British term formerly describing a row of
stables, usually with carriage houses below and living quarters
above, built around a paved yard or court, or along a street,
behind large city houses during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Mews lost their equestrian function in the early 20th century
when motor cars were introduced. At the same time, after World War
I and especially after World War II, the number of people who could
afford to live in the type of houses which had a mews attached fell
sharply. Some mews were demolished or put to commercial use, but
the majority were converted into homes. These "mews houses", nearly
always located in the wealthiest districts, are themselves now
fashionable residences. Some of the mews in the local area hold a
market value between £1.5 million and £2 million per residence.
The cache is somewhere between Craven Road to the North, and the
two low concrete posts where the mews opens up, so there's no need
to venture into the mews itself. It blends in well with it's
surroundings and you probably haven't seen one like this before.
It has nothing to do with a black sensor box and doesn't require
any tools to retrieve this. GPS signal may be poor due to
surrounding buildings.
Please bring a pen and only sign one line of the log, there's no
need to put the date.
Please also replace the cache in the exact same position and
height so future cachers can enjoy the hide, and keep the
website logs clue free
If you can't find the cache and would like some help, log a DNF
and send me a message.
Well done to Corinian (FKA Superdale) on FTF!!
