En mai 1890 Vincent Van Gogh arrive à Auvers, il est au sommet de son art. Son frère Théo l'a confié aux bons soins du Docteur Gachet , lui même peintre amateur.
Il loue une modeste chambre à l'auberge Ravoux face à la mairie.
L'instabilité mentale de Vincent reprend vers la fin juillet 1890. Le 27 juillet 1890, dans un champ où il peint une ultime toile, il se tire un coup de revolver dans la poitrine.
Ramené mourant à l'auberge Ravoux, il y meurt deux jours plus tard, Theo est à son chevet.

In May 1890 Vincent Van Gogh arrived in Auvers, he is at the top of his art. His brother Theo gives him to the care of Dr. Gachet, himself an amateur painter.
