This cache is located along the Nyack to Haverstraw bike path. The path offers many great views of the Hudson River. This area is one of the largest quarry sites along the trail. When the Palisades Interstate Park obtained the land it was turned into a recreation area. Ballfields and picnic areas were located nearby. Below the quarry, near the river there are some abandoned bath houses and other buildings that are worth exploring.
Many years ago I was jogging along this section of the trail when a bus sized section of the cliff fell down in front of me onto the trail. If I had been a little bit faster I wouldn't be here today.
Since the Palisades cliffs are so near, there was a lot of signal bounce in the area. I averaged the coordinates and checked them with two GPS receivers but they may still be off so I provided a very specific clue.
The trail is only open during daylight hours.
