Geocache Description:

Cache update 08/23/2018 (history of this cache and what you'll find here now.) Original cache description is below, and I'll leave that intact. This cache started as a large pirate chest in the forest. Then BHP asked it to be moved, now in the current location, and it got a new listing. (This isn't a knock on BHP, they still wanted the original cache, just in a location that adhered to the new rules in place.)

The container eventually weathered and rotted, (Ants got into it at one point.) park staff got rid of it. I recovered a couple of items, but had to start from scratch. I built a beautiful new chest to replace this one. So nice, in fact, that people who saw it, worried that it would actually get stolen from the location. So I kept that for use at events and replaced the chest with a nice ammo can filled with some swag.

I returned today for a quick inspection. That ammo can went missing, for whatever reason. My emergency replacement is a crappy ammo can. Inside the ammo can is a weatherproof container holding the log sheet. There are no trade items as I had none prepared for this replacement. There IS a cache guardian in the ammo can. There is no need to search for a key, he's gone too. The puzzle still remains.

Future plans: I figure if the crappy ammo can also goes missing, then this location is probably compromised and I'll shut it down. (And... at least I'm only out a crappy ammo can.) If it lasts another year, I'll consider putting another chest in place. I just won't make one quite as nice as I did before. :)

Now, read on for the original description. You'll need it to find the final location. Happy caching!

Hello! Me Name be Captain Ice an' I need yer help.

Me ship be trapped in an iceberg while I be sailin' in th' far North. 't be after this voyage that I be plannin' t' return homeport t' th' vast Prairies an' retire wi' all me Treasure that I had buried. 't appears that th' local authorities be tipped off about me Treasure an' 't sailed' missin'!

Unbeknownst t' th' authorities, I had more than one Treasure buried in th' area. I need someone t' check that me Treasure be still 'ere I port 't. If ye be brave enough t' delve into th' thick jungle t' do this, I will reward ye handsomely.

Unfortunately, th' map t' th' Treasure be here wi' me, so ye`ll be havin' t' make do wi' some crude instructions that I be havin' written down.

First, ye must set sail t' these coordinates. N 50 02.008, W096 51.806. That`s 'ere I marked th' `X` on me map. Ye`ll be havin' t' find th' big X that`s on th' poop deck.

When ye find th' "X" then face due North wi' a compass bearin' o' 000 an' keel haul 99 paces. Th' Governor`s mansion be nearby, proceed wi' caution, they be havin' created a booby trap in th' open field. Do nay keel haul across th' trap or ye may fall into th' septic field trap. Stay close t' th' treeline!

When ye be havin' keel hauled th' 99 paces, ye`ll be havin' t' look around fer me Treasure chest. But beware! I didna leave 't unguarded! Thar be a cursed lock on th' chest. Thar be only two keys that will open that lock. One be around me neck. Th' other be hidden safely nearby. From th' Treasure Chest, go 10 paces due West. Th' skeleton key be hidden in a bucket. Be careful! That bucket contains th' haunted soul o' a very old Buccanneer named Burr, Dexcrub Burr t' be precise. Checkin' on me Treasure be his last act before dyin'. Now, in Davy Jones' locker, he be committed t' watchin' o'er me Treasure fer all eternity unless I return t' reclaim what be mine.

Make sure t' replace th' key after ye be havin' checked on me Treasure. If th' key dasn't get replaced, Burr`s ghost will take th' bucket an' follow th' key holder until 'tis returned.

Inside th' Treasure, ye will find two containers that Burr put inside fer me. One contains a log book. This be me record o' visitors. I managed t' bribe one o' th' Governor`s own officers t' reco'er th' log book from me old Treasure chest an' place 't in this one. Th' other container contains a wee bit o' bountiful Treasure from around th' world. This Treasure ye may trade fer as long as ye leave me bounty alone.

A warnin t' ye. Thar's a swarm of six leg'd creatures a guardin' me hoard. Seems they mov'd in upon Dexcrub Burr's invite. Best be watchin yer toes!

Thank ye fer helpin' me wi' me Treasure ya horn swogglin' landlubber!

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required.

Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
