LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED will take you past the discharge pipe of the flood control dam on Mathay Run in Hempfield Park. Please note new coordinates for this cache N41 23.145 W080 20 137 This cache was originally at the area of the discharge pipe but the first cacher alertly noticed small animal traps in the vicinity that I had overlooked. For the safety of your fingers and toes, we moved the location further on down the trail. Should be easier to find and you won't be dealing with those traps.
From the parking coordinates you should keep left and walk towards a grassy depression that is the spillway for the dam. It can be soggy in this area but once up on the breastworks its level walking most of the way to the cache site. The lake attracts fishermen but your search will be on the other side of the dam and out of their sight. As you walk along the the breastworks, look at the amount of water the dam was designed to hold. We live down stream and are glad this steam is kept under control. It can be a trickle in the summer to a raging torrent in the early spring. Without this dam a lot of people would have wet feet.
