Geocache Description:

I always wondered why they called it “Pioneer Trail”, so after placing this cache the other day I finally did a little research and found out that yes indeed Carver County Rd. 14 was once a Pioneer Trail. As the red arrow on this 1880 Plat map below shows the cache is hidden along the original east / west road in this area. Old No.14 school house use to be just to the east of the cache (you can just barely see it on the plat). If you kept going east on Pioneer Trail back in those early days you would connect up with Old Shakopee road, which would eventually take you to Fort Snelling.

So go find my cache and try to imagine back to those bygone days, when you would hitch up the team and take your wagon for a ride down Pioneer Trail.

Oh My! Here comes the Dip!!: G7YJMB
