Geocache Description:

Lost in the Black Hills

This cache is the Final of 109 caches in the Lost in the Black Hills Series.

If this cache requires maintenance please post a “Needs Maintenance” log describing the problem so that it can be corrected.

Congratulations on completing the Lost in the Black Hills Series!
If you have any remaining extra logs/cache containers please leave them in the cache for future use.

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates. This cache is chirp enabled, but does NOT require a chirp compatible device to find the final. It is only there to aid you in finding the cache if your Garmin GPS is able to detect it. Currently these GPSr's are supported: Garmin Dakota 20, All Oregon's, All GPSMAP 78's, & GPSMAP 62st, you also must be running software version 4.10 or higher.

I decided to create the Lost Series after getting lost in this area on my way to a monthly Meet & Greet in Sturgis. It will take you on a tour of a peaceful area in the Black Hills on mostly well-groomed gravel roads. Throughout the series there are several patterns that aid your search if you pick up on them. Below is other useful information when attempting this series.

How to find the Series Final

To determine the final three digits in each coordinate, you’ll need to find the six missing values represented by letters in the code below. Each of the six missing values is written on the inside of the lids of two separate caches. This is done in case you miss one of the values or the cache is missing. When you find one of these numbers in this format A=1, B=7 for example, simply plug it into the set of coordinates below.

N 44° 14.OTH

W 103° 30.ERS

Optional areas

There are two parts of this Series that require a High Clearance Vehicle to complete, they are NOT required in order to find the numbers for the final.

Lost 022 – Lost 043

These caches are located on a fun little loop down some rough and rocky gravel roads. It is highly recommended you do NOT try this loop with a car or risk vehicle damage. There is a gate located near Lost 022 that is closed from Dec 15th – May 15 for Wildlife Winter Range. You could also take a hike to complete this section.

Lost 051 – Lost 060

A short 2 mile round-trip drive down another rough and rocky gravel road. Again it is highly recommended you do NOT try this road with a car or risk vehicle damage. You could also take a hike to complete this section.

Series Maintenance

This series consist of 106 Small containers and 3 Regular containers. If there is a Needs Maintenance log posted for one of the caches I will post that information at Lost 001 GC2GNW2 and if you would like to help out you can retrieve the needed supplies from either Lost 001, or one of the other designated maintenance caches to repair it as you work to complete the series. Your help will ensure the Series is around for years to come for other cachers to enjoy as well as decreasing your chances of a DNF.

I appreciate your help with maintenance of this Series, however if there is a need for maintenace that has not been resolved within a reasonable amount of time, Team kizb or Team Diveguy will take corrective actions to resolve the maintenance problem.

I have also created a Special Geocoin to go along with this series which is trackable on Geocaching.com

You can contact me at teamkizb@gmail.com for more details about, or to purchase, the Series Geocoin.

I hope you enjoy finding all the caches in this series as much as I did creating it. Happy Trails!
