Happy Halloween!!!

On a warm summer night way back in my days of High School a couple of friends and I camped out at an old unfinished house that was up here. It was called the Haunted House, OOOOO. But the ghost that was said to haunt this place would not come inside. He would roam around the hills and for some reason was never seen on Halloween night, a night that you would think he would be very active. Well I just heard that he died on Halloween night from being scared to death. So I guess that is why he is never seen here on Halloween - So no worries just relax and enjoy all of the beautiful thing s to see up here………………. Unless you come on a day that is not Halloween!

Once you get near the cache you will see a giant erratic left from the ice age on your left and just a few more feet on you right you will come to a beautiful lookout point, a little less than 1000 feet above sea level, with the colorful leaves in full season. From here, on some days, you can see Long Island Sound to the left and Bear Mountain, in NY, to the right. If you continue along the trail you will come to an old chimney ruin. It may have been from Charlie Ives' old cabin he had up here a long time ago. There are many other caches in this area to check out and there are many ways to get in. There is the Bennett's Pond entrance on Bennett's Farm Road, the Hemlock Hills entrance on Bogus Road, the Pine Mountain entrance on Pine Mountain Road, the Wooster Mountain entrance on Route 7, or behind Fitzgerald Field next to Lake Windwing off of Bennett's Farm Road. If you pick the right one you will have about a 300 foot rise in elevation and a little over 3 tenths of a mile walk. Hint: Park 675 feet above sea level.

Thanks For Playing.
