Towards the middle of the nineteenth century it was becoming obvious that the Parish of Pinchbeck was too large to be administered effectively as a single unit. The matter was of major concern to the then Vicar, the Reverend Canon West Wayet. In 1847 the well-known designer of ecclesiastical establishments and friend of Canon Wayet, one Mr. William Butterfield, was visiting the vicarage and agreed to accept the commission to build at West Pinchbeck, a Church, Parsonage and School Room, all to be funded by Canon Wayet. Two years later in 1850, on July 9th, Right Reverend John Kaye, Bishop of Lincoln, consecrated the Church.

The Church cannot boast great architectural merit, to many it is a Victorian church styled in modern Gothic, consisting of a chancel, nave of four bays, north aisle, south porch, and a turret containing two bells. The Rood Screen is much later, being installed in 1917, as a War Memorial. The great attractiveness of the Church is the setting in which it stands with its ordered collection of trees which surround and intersperse the grounds and under which grows a carpet of flowers in the Spring.
