Geocache Description:

"Go outside, get into nature and make your own discoveries!"

That is what Dr. Scott challenges his viewers to do at the end of each Dinosaur Train episode. WGVU's Dinosaur Train geocache is located in a wood between GVSU's Allendale Campus and the Grand River. From the trailhead, a well defined trail leads you along a ridge to a location with breathtaking views, and a medium size Lock & Lock filled with dinosaurs and treasures!

This geocache features Adocus! Adocus was a large Cretaceous turtle with a smooth shell. It was an omnivore, and probably a good swimmer that lived most of its life in the water.

What is your favorite dinosaur? Be sure to tell us when signing the logbook!

FAMILY FRIENDLY- The trails in this area do not have a lot of elevation changes, and they should be relatively easy to manage with a sturdy stroller. The cache may be a bit difficult to find in winter if there's a lot of snow.

This cache is one of a series of Dinosaur geocaches the Jim Henson Company has hidden nationwide with the help of local PBS stations. This one was published with special permission from Groundspeak, and placed with the assistance of the Michigan Geocaching Organization. To find the location of other Dinosaur Train themed geocaches, click the link above, or simply search for "Dinosaur Train" in the keyword search option. Each geocache celebrates a dinosaur featured in the Dinosaur Train Field Guide.

Campus Parking

PARKING-During the week, parking on campus can be a challenge. Pay attention to posted parking signs. There is metered, visitor parking at many locations. There is a meter, allowing a maximum of 30 minutes, near the trail head at the Alexander Calder Fine Arts Center, there are a few four-hour meters in the lot adjacent to Lake Ontario Hall just west of the Art Center, and there are several four-hour meters in the lot adjacent to the Performing Arts bldg just off South Campus Dr. Otherwise, get a visitor pass at the police station on campus. During weekends, there is an open parking policy, except in designated handicap, service vehicle or metered parking. You can park right at the trailhead on weekends!

Congratulations to Tom Cat for being First to Find!
