Geocache Description:

The Excelsior Amusement Park opened in 1925 on the shores of Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, Minnesota. A streetcar line from Minneapolis delivered throngs of visitors to the park from Memorial Day to Labor Day each summer. Among the park’s many attractions were the Cyclone (a wooden roller coaster), the Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, The Whip, Boat Rides, The Carousel, and the fun house.
The park was closed forever after Labor Day in 1973. Most of the rides were dismantled or sold off. The carousel was moved and can be found today at Valley Fair Amusement Park in Shakopee. A small booth from the park was salvaged and is located at the museum on the trolley line off of Water Street in Excelsior.
I remember a few trips to the park when I was a very young child. The most vivid memory is of getting lost and leaving the park on my own to look for our car. I must have been about 5 years old at the time. I made my way to the police station only to find it locked and no one around. I am sure things are a bit different today. I somehow was reunited with my family and remember falling asleep in the back of the station wagon, oh the days of never wearing seat belts.
