Strbske pleso (Moutain lake)
Strbske pleso (tarn) is the most typical glacial morain lake on the southern side of the High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. It is located in the place where two valleys, Furkotska dolina and Mlynicka dolina, are connected at the end of the ridge of Solisko, and is the second highest in the Slovakian part of the Tatra Mountains. It is situated 1,346.6 m above sea level. It was created after liquating of the lateral glacial floe, which was covered by a thick layer of debris. This floe once cohered with the glacier in the Mlynicka dolina and Furkotska dolina; after flooding, it modelled a mere, which covered the area of 19.76 ha, had a cubic capacity of 1,284,000 cubic meters, was 26 m deep in the deepest point, 640 m long and 600 m wide. The maximum temperature of the surface water is 19 °C, and the average temperature of the surface water throughout the year is 6 °C. This tarn does not have any surface inflow and runoff. The exchange of the water is supplied by moraine deposits. In the tarn itself live several fish species; some of them were put in there just in the last period of time.
This tarn belongs to the basin of the stream Mlynica, and that means directly or through its tributary Lieskovec. The water from it drained also to the basin of Bílý Váh. Owing to the human activity, today the water drains only to the basin of Baltske more (sea)..

Strbske pleso je nejtypictejsi morenové ledovcove jezero na jizni strane Vysokych Tater na Slovensku. Nachazi se v miste, kde se spojuji Furkotska a Mlynicka dolina na konci hrebenu Soliska, a je druhe nejvetsi na slovenske strane Vysokych Tater. Lezi v nadmorske vysce 1346,6 m. Vzniklo po roztopeni bocni ledovcove kry pokryte silnou vrstvou sutiny. Tato kra kdysi souvisela s ledovcem v Mlynickej a Furkotskej doline, po zatopeni vytvorila vodni plochu o rozloze 19,76 ha, s objemem 1.284.000 metru kubickych, s maximalni hloubkou 26 m, delkou 640 m a sirkou 600 m. Maximalni teplota vody pri hladine je 19 st. C, prumerna rocni teplota pri hladine je 6 st. C. Pleso nema povrchovy pritok ani odtok. Vymena vody probiha pres morenove nanosy. V samotnem plese se nachazi nekolik druhu ryb, nektere byli nasazene az v poslednim obdobi.
Pleso nalezi do povodi potoka Mlynica, at uz primo nebo prostrednictvim jejiho pritoku Lieskovce. Voda z nej v minulosti odtekala i do povodi Bileho Vahu. Diky cinnosti cloveka vsak dnes odteka voda pod zemi jen do povodi Baltskeho more.</>
