Geocache Description:

A mystery with a slight touch of what you find at the start position. The title is one of my favourites and is highly recommended but have little to do with the rest...

Note! The final position is within one kilometer of the start position.

Quote A

There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.

Quote B

Good day, gentlemen. This is a prerecorded briefing made prior to your departure and which for security reasons of the highest importance has been known on board during the mission only by your H-A-L 9000 computer. Now that you are in Jupiter's space and the entire crew is revived it can be told to you. Eighteen months ago the first evidence of intelligent life off the Earth was discovered. It was buried 40 feet below the lunar surface near the crater Tycho. Except for a single very powerful radio emission aimed at Jupiter the four-million year old black monolith has remained completely inert. Its origin and purpose are still a total mystery.

Quote C

There must be something in books, things we can't imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don't stay for nothing.

Quote D

When I was a boy my brother David and I had to go to bed early wether we were sleepy or not. In summer particularly, bedtime often came before sunset; and because our dormitory was in the east wing of the hourse, with a broad window facting the central courtyard and thus looking west, the hard, pinkish light sometimes streamed in four hours while we lay staring out at my father's crippled monkey perched on a flaking parapet, or telling stories, one bed to another, with soundless gestures.

Quote E

Here they are. They're entirely in black, with belted tabards over something like long underwear that make them look like the cards in Alice, though nobody here has heard about that. They're not - at the moment - wearing guns. Both are tall; the elder (grey-haired, clean-shaven, approaching fifty) has the beaked nose, high cheek-bones, and deep-set dark eyes of a desert prophet; the younger (by twenty years) is a stockier sort with the flat dish-face of a Slav peasant: dab of a nose, washed-out eyes, and that no-color, fine hair Russians go in for when they forget to be blond. They're white, but this must be understood conventionally; it excluses snow-color and paper-color. Around them is the cave of Ala-ed-Deen, a little tacky perhaps and too much early Manet in the moveables; there are embroidered pillows, filigreed screens, inlaid tables, litte tabourets, figured hangings, heaps of rugs, everything fretted and pierced and decorated with endlessly repeated geometrical motifs; but there are no plants anywhere, living or in pictures, and there are no pictures of anyone or anything.

Quote F

"Sir," replied the commander, "I am nothing to you but Captain Nemo; and you and your companions are nothing to me but the passengers of the Nautilus."

Quote G

It would probably be better for Terra if this wasn't Eldritch coming back, he decided. Palmer Eldritch was too wild and dazzling a solo pro; he had accomplished miracles in getting autofac production started on the colony planets, but - as always he had gone too far, schemed too much.

Quote H

Hell goes round and round. In shape it is circular, and by nature it is interminable, repetitive, and nearly unbearable.
