This large ammo can is located in Boxborough's
Patch Hill conservation land and it serves several purposes.
It:
- marks the Liberty Square Road trailhead to Patch Hill
- holds a copy of Boxborough: Portrait of a Town (see
check out guidelines below). This book will help you complete
SCWB's Boxborough Centric series series.
- is the starting point for Patch Hill Chirps!. Details on how
to find Patch Hill Chirps! can be found on that cache page.
How to find the cache
In the spirit of SCWB's cache (and the many fine mystery caches
in the area) you will need to solve an easy puzzle using a little
Boxborough history. You need to know what year Boxborough was
incorporated, call that year ABCD.
The cache is located at: N42 30.A(D+1)0 W71
30.(C/2)(B-1)4
Checking out Boxborough: Portrait of a Town:
SCWB recently published an excellent
series of educational caches highlighting the history of
Boxborough. We were fortunate enough to be FTF on
BC #10 and as a FTF prize we took away a copy of Boxborough:
Portrait of a Town. It is a difficult book to find but helpful
if you want to complete this series. We would like to share our
copy with the rest of the geocaching community especially if you
can't get to the real Boxborough Library where
there is another copy.
To take out this copy of Boxborough: Portrait of a Town
contact us through our
profile and let us know when you would like to pick up the
book. We'll do our best to drop it off in the cache on the morning
of that day. You can take it for 24 hours (or longer if you arrange
it with us ahead of time). When you are done drop the book back in
the cache and send us an email so we can retrieve the book.
Note: Checking out the book is NOT a requirement to log the
cache.
Thanks to GotJ for the cache container!
