Mestska keska v Ceske ulici v Kutne Hore. This is a town cach situated in the Czech Street in a historical town kutna Hora.

Ceska ulice

Pujdeme-li ulici vzhuru, vidime parcik v ulici Ku Ptaku, kde do 1.poloviny 20.stoleti byval rybnícek zvany Kolinacek. Budeme-li pokracovat ulici dal, dojdeme ke hrbitovu s kostelem Vsech Svatych a do oblasti pradavne osady „Stara Kutna“. Tou se zabyva kes Cuthna Antiqua

Kes neni na hrbitove, takze tam opravdu nehledejte.

The Ceska (Czech) Street

The name Ceska street appeared for the first time in the 14th century. There’s a notice of Platea bohemorum from 1429 or later Platea bohemicalis. The name proofs, that Czech population was a minority in Kutna Hora of that the time. Local as well as personal names are mostly in German.

At the corner of Vaclavske square and the Ceska street, there was a pottery market, because until the Hussite wars, potters lived here. Their craft rooms and kilns were pushed to the very edge of the settlement at the town wall. In the area of dwellings no. 34 or 36, there was situated a town gate called Kolinska. You can see the remains of the wall at the garden of the opposite house no. 553.

In year 1621the head of Jan Sultys was put into an iron cage and hung at the Kolinska gate. Jan Sultys was one of twenty-seven czech governors, whose army was defeated at the Battle of Bila hora. His head was removed after 103 years.

The street was shortly renamed to Prokopova. And the area behind the gate was used as a shooting-range at that time.

If walking up the street, we can see a near park. Until the first half of the 20th century, there used to be a little pond. Continuing ahead, we come along a cemetery with a church to the area of formal dorp Stara Kutna. Another geocache, called Cuthna Antiqua, concerns with that.
