Geocache Description:

We placed this cache in memory of my dad, part of the Team Oma-n-Opa, who passed away a year ago on 2/18/2010. His favorite puzzle was Sudoku and he had great time to solve them with LittleFox. This is a tribute to Opa and his favorite puzzle activity.

The CACHE is NOT at the COORDINATES listed.

You will need to solve NINE other caches before you can find this cache.

The good thing is you will be able to log a find for every stage of this cache and can stop at any time and restart another day if you run out of time.

To start the search for this cache you will have to find
Opa's Sudoku Cache - OSC 1.

You will find yourself discovering your GPS-Receiver all over again.

If you are not very familiar with the operation of it, it might be a good idea to bring along the manual, as there will be situations where you will dig in deep into the realm of coordinate systems their origins, and their conversions.

This cache series which will take you on a hunt through the Holly Springs National Forrest within Lafayette County. You might want to schedule a few hours for this. This series is definitely not a park and grab.  It can be a very fun afternoon series to caching with children.  The terrain rating for the individual caches in the series reflect the D/T ratings of those caches, the one for this cache has a higher rating as it is a cumulative effort to find the clues and solve the mystery of the final location of this cache.

IMPORTANT:

At each stage you need to recover the proper information so you can solve the mystery of the location of Opa's Sudoku Cache.

In each of the individual OSC caches, you will find a clue where to find the next cache in your quest and how to solve the mystery of the final cache location.

Take very good notes and be observant. It might help to bring a small digital camera to take a picture of the clue.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE CLUE from the cache.

If anything looks missing, please call or email me.  You will find the life-line in the cache container. Feel free to confirm an idea you might have for any of the stages.

Remember
Without ALL of the clues you cannot solve this cache.

A small notepad or some general writing utensils are necessary to be taken on your journey.
Take detailed notes of your finds.  It might help to take a digital camera along to document your findings. If you fail to do observe all the clues, you might see yourself retracing your steps to retrieve the necessary information.

GOOD LUCK and HAPPY CACHING !

A short excerpt from the online Wikipedia for those of you who have not heard about Sudoku:

Sudoku is a logic-based, number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub-grids that compose the grid (also called "boxes", "blocks", "regions", or "sub-squares") contains all of the digits from 1 to 9. The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid, which typically has a unique solution.

OriginalSolved Puzzle

Completed puzzles are always a type of Latin square with an additional constraint on the contents of individual regions. For example, the same single integer may not appear twice

  • in the same 9x9 playing board row
  • in the same 9x9 playing board column or
  • in any of the nine 3x3 subregions of the 9x9 playing board
