The MERETOWN MEANDER series of caches comprises 23 small
containers placed in a 'circular' type walk of approximately 6ml /
11km between Meretown, Sutton, Warton Grange and Forton, on the
Shropshire/Staffordshire border.
You could begin the hunt at any point on the circuit and by
following the cache numbers in sequence, you will always come back
to where you started !!! - however if you want to add a bit of
competition into your search and take part in the Meretown
Challenge (see below) you need to start at number 1.
As we discovered when hiding the caches, the area between
numbers 3 and 4 (at the far side of Aqualate Mere) can be very,
very boggy after rainfall. Stout waterproof walking boots or
wellies are strongly recommended - also geo-dogs with small legs
may need to be carried in such conditions.
Along the route you will also encounter, sheep, cows (and the
odd bull or 2), horses, llama and shetland ponies so junior
geo-cachers will be kept happy !!!
None of the caches are deviously hidden as we've intended this
to be suitable as an afternoon family fun hunt. All the caches are
in identical style containers so once you've found the first one,
you know what you're looking for each time.
THE MERETOWN
CHALLENGE
It's not all about being first to find, and
with the Meretown Challenge we aim to show that first isn't
always the best ... Who will be the quickest to complete ALL 23
caches in this series ???
To take part, simply park up at or around
parking co-ords at N52 46.774 W002 21.994 then head to the
nearby style at N52 46.758 W002 21.927 near to cache number
1.
Start timing as soon as you cross this style
and the clock stops when you have Cache number 23 in your hand
!!!!
Once completed send us an email with your
final time on and we will create a 'hall of fastest
fame'
Good luck and happy
geo-hunting !!!
