Strindheimtunnelen is a part of a large road construction project in Trondheim. So far, about half of the construction work (alongside the seaside, thorugh Ila and along the Brattøra Quay area) is done, but the biggest challenge is yet to be finished: Strindheimtunnelen.

Denne cachen er plassert i nærheten av åpningen til Strindheimtunnelen. Tunnelen er kalt den mest krevende delen av "Ny E6"-prosjektet gjennom Trondheim. En rekke hus er flyttet og revet før dette arbeidet kom i gang og det er en krevende jobb å få slått spunter ned i leira i dette området, for å lage tunnel herfra og gjennom Møllenberg til Strondheim

ENGLISH:
The tunnel through "Møllenberg" is a challenging one to build. The ground consists of either clay or very hard rock. More than 30 buildings are temporarily moved to a storage area further east and some building close to this cache are demolished, and will be replaced after the tunnel is finished.
The long-term plan is to move through traffic away from the town centre and make city streets safer and much less trafficated. However, construction works have been considerable for the last 5-10 years, and the project is to be finished in 2016. This tunnel, massive works around "Leangen" and a new bridge and tunnel at "Sluppen" are not finished yet.
Local residents near the cache can hear hammering and demolition work from early morning to late evening, but there haven't been that many complaints yet. According to the entrepeneur, efforts are being made to keep the disturbance to a minimum.
"Strindheim" is a borough some kilometres east of the cache, but the Strindheim tunnel is being built from the entrance on this side. If you click the "Related web page" link on the top of this page, you'll find a web cam image showing the construction site.
The "New E6" project will change Trondheim for many many years to come, and it deserves a cache.
The box only contains a log book, so you need to bring your own pen.
