This is another in a series of caches celebrating the Moore County that used to be!! You are looking for a small lock-and-lock container with log and items for trade.
According to The State Magazine (Sept. 29, 1951 - Vol. 19, No. 18) the town of Manly, North Carolina was rough-and-tumbe turpentine and lumber boom town that once existed just north of present-day Southern Pines. It's borders went roughly from present-day Manly Road which intersects just north of May Street Market to just past the present-day Total Home Solutions store (1695 N. May St.) which was once Manly's general store. The house behind total home solutions was once Manly's post office.
At one time, the town of Manly boasted 14 businesses, 12 of which included salloons. (There was also a rumored brothel or two!) After the area was largely timbered, and John Patrick founded the town of Southern Pines immediately to the south, Manly faded into it's more genteel neighbor.
The town was probably named for Charles Manly (1795-1871), who served as governor of North Carolina from 1849 to 1851.
