Geocache Description:

This is a Challenge cache designed to be equally suited to geocaching newbies as well as veterans. Complete the challenge (details below), then find and sign the cache at the posted coordinates.

On September 23, 2010, I found “6 Cachers Cache” (GCYTAJ). Prior to this find, the cache had not been found for over 18 months, which led to this idea for a challenge cache:

Find a cache that has not been found for at least one year.

Ground rules:

  • The qualifying find must be at least one calendar year after the previous find, and can be anywhere in the world. Any kind of cache type counts, including virtuals, webcams and earthcaches. Time will be determined by the "Found It" log dates on that cache's geocaching.com page (unless you can provide photographic proof otherwise). FTFs do count (use the date the cache was published for reference). For example, a valid resurrection would cover 2/3/13 to 2/3/14, but a find on 2/2/14 would be a day short and not qualify. Point in clarification (4/11/20): it's all about the day, not time of day, so same-day finds will count.
  • The qualifying find(s) must occur on or after the published date of this cache (12/19/10) and must be before you sign the physical log for this cache. If you have resurrected multiple caches, then you qualify as a Resurrection Specialist (see below). For this, I encourage you to keep a Bookmark List to keep track of your totals.
  • The find must be your first for that particular cache; repeat finds do not count. Cache owners cannot find their own caches.
  • No replacement finds allowed (wherein you replace a disabled or missing cache) - this is to encourage the cache owner to do maintenance. If a cache has a physical log to sign, you must find and sign it: logging ‘with cache owner permission’ does not count. Caches that have been archived at any time prior to your find do not count, but archival after your found log is OK.
  • In your log, post the cache you found and the length of time between finds. If that number is large enough – currently over 7 years! – then congratulations: you will have made the Top Ten list.

Once qualified, go to the posted coordinates to find the cache and sign the log. There is an unactivated geocoin for the first finder. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to email me. Hopefully this one will not lie dormant for over a year.

It probably goes without saying that there can be some epic adventures behind these resurrections - click the cache links above and read about them!!!

Update (4/2/11): A new Top Ten list for "Resurrection Specialists" has been added for those of you that have already found this cache but have since re-qualified with other caches. If you happen to have multiple cache resurrections before finding this cache, your oldest effort will count toward the Top Ten Finders list.

Point in clarification (7/16/11): Cache resurrections after you have already logged this cache found will count toward the "Specialist" list but will not count toward the Hall of Fame list, so make your original Found log count!

Note 1/19/12: I do my best to keep up with all the found logs and posted notes, so please do not hesitate to let me know if I have been negligent or miscounted your totals. Also try not to edit existing posts as I will not receive automatic notification that way.

Note 1/26/22: Any "geochecker" out there will NOT provide an accurate assessment of total resurrections. Ok to use it as a guideline to identify caches that MAY qualify - but then you need to make sure those caches adhere to the ground rules. There also may be caches you qualify for that are not picked up by the geochecker, so just be aware of that as well. Therefore, updated totals will not be based on any geochecker output; you will still need to post individual caches or set up a bookmark list of qualified caches in order to get your totals updated on the lists.

Update 7/21/22: for the above reasons, output from any "geochecker" will not be accepted as qualification for this cache.
