Artesische Brunnen befinden sich in Becken, in denen das
Grundwasser mit undurchlässigen Schichten abgedeckt ist. Da die
Schichten durchgebogen sind, steht das Grundwasser unter Druck.
Dieser Druck (hydraulisches Potential) ist so hoch, dass das Wasser
von selbst, das heißt ohne Pumpen, bis zur Erdoberfläche oder höher
aufsteigt.
Einen artesischen Brunnen (benannt
nach der französischen Landschaft Artois, in der 1126 zum ersten
Mal eine solche Anlage geschaffen wurde) findet ihr in Klein
Briesen.
Obwohl der Brunnen in einem Naturschutzgebiet liegt müssen die
offiziellen Wege zu keinem Zeitpunkt verlassen werden.
Begebt euch bitte vor Ort. Dort
findet ihr auf einer Infotafel die Antworten auf folgende
Fragen:

1. Als was wurde dieser Brunnen ursprünglich angelegt ?
2. Was löst sich im Wasser bei Luftkontakt und lässt durch
Oxidation und Ablagerung die rote Färbung entstehen?
3. Der Brunnen führt sein gesamtes Wasser dem Klein Briesener Bach
zu. Wie viele Meter südwestlich von Klein Briesen entspringt dieser
Bach?
4. Welche Würmer reagieren empfindlich auf
Gewässerverunreinigungen? (Buchstabenanzahl = 22)

Artesian aquifers are located in hollows in which the ground water
is covered by impermeable rock formations (strata). Since those
strata are bent below the water table, the ground water is confined
and under pressure. Due to this pressure (hydraulic potential), the
water will flow upwards without the need of pumping.
There is an artesian aquifer (named
after the former French province of Artois where the first well of
this kind had been created in 1126) in Klein Briesen.
Although the well is located in a nature reserve, you do not have
to leave the official ways at any point."
