The cache was placed in honor of the road 66. Beware of the cars near the cache going on speed, which is slightly higher than allowed 90km/h limit.
The cache is placed on the Latvian road 66. Original name of the road is not 66 but A6, as well Latvia is proud owner of other road named P66. P66 is regional road, which connects Tabore and Laucese, it is 9km long. The only P66 attraction is that it ends in the forests, just in the middle of nowhere. Not too much to see there.
A6 is not the most scenery Latvian highway either. However it is the longest main road in Latvia - 307km Riga-Daugavpils-Paternieki. It was rebuilt and modified much for the past time. Nicgale-Daugavpils part is probably one of the most boring highways, when you are going by bicycle. There are many rumors, why this part is so straight. One of the most popular ones, it was planned to be military airport in the time of cold war. Next time when you will use the road, just pay attention how straight it is. Even Boeing 777 could land here ±2.9km runaway required, and maybe even Airbus 380 ±4km, the only limit is width, which is 60m as requirement for A380.
The cache is hidden in the place, where objects remain about the past, when people used cars rarely. The lonely oak is standing in the separation lane to the gates of speed. By the way the highest speed was reached by one crazy guy, the maximum police registered speed is 235km/h.
As the place is not too scenery, we decided to add small thing to make this cache more colorful.
Our house is always full of pens, we have small and bigs, thick and thin, black and white, blue and pink just any kind of pen you can imagine. We made this cache as storage for different kind of pens. Originally we put there 13 pens. You are welcome to grab one, we will be happy if you will put your pen inside and make note in logbook about it. If someday it will be empty we will bring some from our collections.
Do not pull out first container, just open it. Dirty hands possible :)
