Die Felsformation an der Dahner Klamm
Der Ursprung des Felsenwunders liegt rund 250 Millionen Jahre zurück, im Erdzeitalter des Buntsandstein. Damals erstreckte sich hier eine wüstenhaft anmutende Landschaft. Flüsse, die nur von Zeit zu Zeit Wasser führten, und der Wind transportierte Sand und Geröll herbei – Abragungsschutt von weiter im Süden gelegenen Gebirgen, deren Gesteine durch die Verwitterung zermürbt und gelockert worden waren. So wurden im Lauf der Zeit bis zu 500 Meter mächtige Schichten abgelagert und zu Sandsteinen verfestigt. Ihre typische rötliche bis gelbliche Farbe wird durch Eisenoxid verursacht.
Die mannigfaltigen Formen der Buntsandsteinfelsen mit ihren Türmen, Gesimsen und Gesteinsbänken, den ausgeprägten Schichten und Verwitterungsformen lassen die bildhauerische Kraft der Natur über die Jahrmillionen erahnen.
An den Koordinaten N 49°08.770 und E 007°46.337 findet ihr eine Hinweistafel mit einem Rundwanderweg. Wenn ihr euch mit den Rücken zum Infoschild stellt habt ihr einen wunderbaren Blick auf eine Felsformation.

Die Klamm war ursprünglich ein natürlicher schmaler Felseinschnitt durch den seit urdenklichen Zeiten der Weg von Dahn in die ausgedehnten Waldungen und ins Sauertal führte.
AXXX wurde die Felsenschlucht im Zuge des Westwallbaues stark erweitert und BXXX auf ihre heutige Breite gebracht.
In der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde in den Felsen beiderseits der Klamm mehrere zum Tal miteinander verbundene Hohlräume geschaffen, die den Dahner Brauereien und Gastwirtschaften zur Lagerung von Bier dienten. Selbst gebrochenes mit Sägespänen vermischtes Natureis hielt das in Fässern gelagerte Bier auch in den Sommermonaten frisch. In den 20iger Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts machte die Herstellung von Kunsteis die Bierkelller überflüssig.
Im 2. Weltkrieg dienten die ehemaligen Bierkeller als Luftschutzräume.

The Formation of Rocks at the Dahner Klamm
The origin of the rock miracle is back about 250 million years, in the era of the brownstone. At that time it was covered as a desert-like-looking landscape. For a long time the gorge was originally a natural narrow cut through the rocks leading from Dahn in the extensive forests and to the Sauer valley.
AXXX was the canyon as part of the West Wall construction greatly expanded, and BXXX brought to its present width.
In the first half of the 19th Century, several interconnected rooms were created in the rocks on both sides of the gorge to the valley that served the Dahner breweries and inns for the storage of beer. Even broken natural ice mixed with sawdust kept the beer stored in barrels fresh even in the summer months. In the 20th of the last century the production of artificial ice made the beer cellar unnecessary. During the Second World War, the former beer cellar served as shelters.

La formation rocheuse au Dahner Gorge
L'origine du miracle rock est de retour d'environ 250 millions d'années, à l'ère de la pierre brune. A cette époque ici était couverte d´un paysage désertique prospectifs. Et des rivières qui a conduit de temps à autre de l'eau et le vent de sable et gravier transportés – gravier dans les montagnes, les rochers usés par les intempéries et ont été assouplies.
