Geocache Description:

!!!!!------------ Dear chest finders! The chest is currently under renovation, it can be searched with the alternative password. We will try to replace the chest as soon as possible.---------------------!!!! ---------------- You can find the cache in the garden, in 1.6m height in the vegetation.

Just a few cities can be proud of interior gardens at the very centre that were created by former citizens and preserved in its original beautiful condition. The Western Castle Wall Promenade was also beautified within the framework of the World Heritage Project executed between 2005 and 2006. In the central part of the garden-complex, along the city wall, we can find a two-storey Baroque kiosk with octagonal floor plan and mansard roof that ends in a peak. In our city, this artistic, late Baroque small architecture is one of the most magnificent monuments in its own style. South of the kiosk we can get to the lower terrace through an imposing balustrade where we can admire the panorama of the nearby serpentine streets, roofs and the Mecsek. From the garden, broadening on the northern side of the promenade, and the intimate shadows of the ivy-covered trees there is a clear view of the buildings of the Bishopric of Pécs that evoke Renaissance atmosphere. The garden, known as Culture Garden, has become sweet home for literary and musical events. It provides space not only for relaxing during the day but also for spending the nights in the cosiest garden-premise of the city. LOCATION OF THE RELICS OPEN TO VISITORS The Western Castle Wall Promenade has tree entrances: it can be reached from number 5 Esze Tamás Street, through the courtyard of the Civil Community House (number 17 Saint Stephen’s Square) and walking along the city wall starting from Kafka Restaurant and Club (former Castle Wall Inn, 7624 8 Alkotmány Street, Pécs). TRANSPORT From the train and coach station: take bus number 30, 32, 33, 34, 35 or 36, get off at the Barbican stop and walk through Esze Tamás Street. By car: The nearest car park is in Barbican Square and in the surrounding streets (paid parking zone). Saint Stephen’s Square and Apáca Street can only be accessed with a licence purchased in advance. OPENING HOURS 1st April – 31st October every day 07.00 – 24.00 1st November – 31st December every day 07.00 – 16.00
