This is one of the most scenic caches I have placed. The views in all directions are spectacular. As a kid I remember riding horses up to the lookout with my dad. I decided to take my familiy up there to show them the views and of course hide a cache.
Getting there can be an adventure all its own. The road is well defined (FS Road 511) and it's approximately 8 miles from the highway; however towards the top the shale will be a problem for vehicles with low ground clearance. There is also a gate at the base of the lookout that prevents you from driving all the way to it (quarter mile by road, less if you go up the shale face) The hike up is moderate unless the 6600 feet of elevation takes your oxygen away! Once at the top you will head towards the trail signs for Slimmer Creek and Barnum Creek. From here you will walk a few more yards and notice two trees at the end of a rock shelf. This is where you will be able to find the cache.
It may be difficult to see the cache at first, however use the hint and look at the picture, this should give it away. I hid it so no one would stumble across it, yet it makes it a little harder to find.
