Big waterfall
Plitvice Lakes is the most prominent National Park (1949) in
Croatia. It is among the most beautiful sights in Europe. This
"pearl of continental Croatia" was added to the list of World
Natural Heritage by UNESCO due to its diversity (1979). Sixteen
beautiful Plitvice Lakes, crystal clear and turquoise, are situated
one beneath the other in forested mountain area. High waterfalls
(140) are created when water decants from the higher lakes into
lower lakes, which leaves the visitors breathless.
Biggest waterfall ( and in Croatia) is „Big
waterfall“. Besides its height, this waterffal differs from
other by its formation while other waterfalls originate from
Plitvice Lakes, „Big waterfall“ is made by Plitvica
brook brawling over the steep limestone cliff.
Plitvica brook rises from a spring 3 km westward from „Big
waterfall“. At the end of its short flow it meets with
Plitvice Lakes at Sastavci. Downstream, together they make the
river Korana.
The „Big waterfall“ is a magnificent signy after
heavy Rais and in the springtime when the snow is meeting.
This waterfall forms the travertine,too. Coming too close to in
and the travertine formation process will be disturbed.
Please, do not step on vulnerable nature. Thin layers of
travertine takes years to from and can be destroyed in a few
thoughtless moment.

Velky vodopad
Plitvicka jezera jsou nejznamejsim narodnim parkem (1949) v
Chorvatsku a patri k nejhezcim prirodnim pamatkam v Evrope. Tato
"perla chorvatskeho vnitrozemi" byla diky sve rozmanitosti zarazena
na seznam Svetovych prirodnich pamatek UNESCO (1979). V zalesnene
hornate krajine se nad sebou rozklada sestnact prekrasnych
Plitvickych jezer kristalove modrozelene barvy. Vysoke vodopady
(140), ktere vznikaji prelevanim vody z vyssich jezer do nizsich,
svou krasou okouzli navstevniky.
Nejvetsim vodopadem (i v Chorvatsku) je „Velky
vodopad“. Mimo svou vysku se tento vodopad od ostatnich
odlisuje i zpusobem sveho vzniku.Zatimco ostatni vodopady vznikly
vodou z Plitvickych jezer, „Velky vodopád“ tvori potok
Plitvica, padajici z prikre vapencove skaly.
Potok Plitvica prameni 3 km zapadne od „Velkeho
vodopadu“. Na konci sveho kratkeho toku vteka u Sastavku do
Plitvickych jezer. Po jejich opusteni s nimi tvori reku Koranu.
„Velky vodopád“ je nejmohutnejsi po velkych destich
a na jare pri tani snehu.
Take voda z tohoto vodopadu vytvari travertin. Jdete-li po jeho
upati narusujete proces tvorby travertinu.
