Geocache Description:

This is another addition to the Sidetracked series of caches. A straightforward magnetic micro which should be a cache & dash.

Worplesdon railway station is near to the village of Worplesdon, Surrey. The station is on the Portsmouth Direct Line between Woking and Guildford, 43 km south west of London Waterloo. Most people think that the station lies within the Borough of Guildford; in truth, it lies in the Ward of Mayford and Sutton Green in the Borough of Woking. The station opened in 1883 and a timetable for the following year shows it was served by 10 daily trains from London and 9 trains to London. Most were slow services taking well over an hour. On occasions special trains for the Duchess of Sutherland's Garden Parties at Sutton Place would terminate at Worplesdon. Between 1897 and 1910 the station was the site of the Owen Stone Company who had a siding from the main line into their works. The old font at Worplesdon Church was made of Owen Stone.
