Located in Lost Maples State Natural Area. Requires approx. 4.5 mile round trip hike over some somewhat rugged and sometimes steep terrain. Good hiking shoes will be handy and bring along some water and a snack.
The above coordinates are not the location of the cache, they are just close. To get the exact coordinates of the cache you must first find another location in the park. Located at N29 deg 49.698 min W 099 deg 36.470 min is a primitive campsite with a letter designation. Once you find the campsite you must take the value of that letter (A=1, B=2, etc.) and multiply it by 0.01 and add it to the end of both of the above coordinates to locate the cache. (example: if the letter is A then the first coordinate becomes N29deg 49.814 min + (1 * 0.01) = N29 deg 49.824 min). This will add some additional fun and make sure that you approach the cache from the correct direction. With the correct coordinates in hand, proceed along the main trail until you are approx .05 miles from the cache and then you will have to head off the trail a bit. The container is a clear box approx. 8" X 13" X 3.5" with a blue lid. For additional help see the clue below. It takes a little effort but the hike is great and the views are really nice. Plenty of opportunity to see some scenery and wildlife.
