Placed at the top of the hill, offering beautiful 360° panoramic views over Bartolomeu neighborhood.
Just under the hill you can admire the oldest building in the city and at the same time the first church in Brasov county "Saint Bartolomeu's Church", dating from the early 1200's.
The church was first named "The three orphans Church", which according to the legend, donated all of their wealth to the church and were buried under the altar.
The walls surrounding it withstood numerous battles and the great fire from 1689. North, west and south-west parts of the medieval wall are still the originals.
The tower was rebuilt one story taller in 1842, after it collapsed in a great earthquake in 1822.
For over 500 years, in the last Sunday before 24 August (St. Bartolomeu's holyday) religious festivities take place. After the religious ceremony there will be singing and dancing on fanfare music.
Since 2003 there's an Ethnographic Museum inside the Church's courtyard with over 1500 objects, which will present a typical saxon household.
This cache was part of Transylvania GeoQuest II event in august 2010.
