Geocache Description:

Le Tour is a challenging mountain bike ride or a 10 mile walk around Over Staveley.
You will need a map of the area to help you on your way.
Le Tour is on minor roads and bridleways which are popular with cyclists. There are one or two boggy bits but you would expect that when the Bog Bears set caches!
We have tried to place the caches where cyclists need to stop (gates) or where there is somewhere to leave your bike while you search for a cache.

There are 12 new caches but you also pass another 4 or 5 on the way depending on your chosen route.
If the whole circuit is bit long for you there is an escape route after cache 6. If cycling you can take the road back along the valley bottom. If walking you can take the low level footpath along by Kentmere Tarn passing Kentmere Lake View!! GC1DVX9
Other nearby caches are
Fishy Plaice GC173PZ
Elf Howe GC3QD
Wild Wood GC173Q8
Postman Pat’s View GCR272 (a little way off route)
Skeggles GCQQK4
Goat Head Scar GC1JV7Q (a short climb which is off route)
Kentmere Sea View!! GC1DVWX
Scroggs Lane GC173QH

We hope you will be inspired to get on your bike and maybe even watch some cycling on the TV. Le Tour de France is held in July and The Tour of Britain is held in September and they are both great events to watch.

During cycle races the racers all ride together in the Neutralised Zone where the cyclists can build up their speed gradually until the flag is dropped and the racing begins.

This cache is set at the end of the road and the start of the bridleway and is the real start of Le Tour.
