Geocache Description:

A 7 mile walk on the outskirts of Tonbridge (though most of it comes under the Tunbridge Wells area) and shows what nice countryside can be found when you go a little way out of the town. There are 18 caches and the walk is circular so can be done in either direction.
Please read each cache description immediately after you have found the previous one for instructions and pointers to any hazards.

The first part of the walk (caches #1-3) takes you through the grounds of the Schools at Somerhill – there are three caches laid in the grounds which have been placed with permission, though their location will not cause any problems with the daily life of the school please be mindful of the fact that these are school grounds so keep to the public footpaths at all times.

Once beyond the school grounds you will continue on public footpaths then a small stretch of road and back onto footpaths where you will pass a bit of the industrial estate in High Brooms and then head back north to the end. Most of the paths you will use are part of the Tunbridge Wells Circular Walk which is well signed (except one section which I will advise you of)

Also when setting this trail we did come across sections which were badly signed, poorly maintained, very overgrown and there was one stile which needs replacing and crossing the fence there will not be easy. I will indicate where these areas are – though during the winter this may be a different story as far as overgrown ferns bushes etc may be concerned – it will be very likely good footwear, boots etc. will be required as some areas will be very wet and muddy under foot. I have made representation to the relevant authority so hopefully the route should be up to scratch at some point.

The cache trail is more about the walk and so I have given good hints for the caches so that hopefully searching will be minimal. Most caches are film canisters with two larger containers. Parking can be at a number of different locations however I have given one suggestion – this is on the feeder road to the A21 – 99.9% of the traffic will be going South here, but this is a two way road and so if you go to the end, pull in before you get to the A21 itself, turn round and come back up the feeder road you can park along there and set off in either direction from that location. Note - the Difficulty / Terrain value for the majority of the caches is given for the series as a whole.
This will probably take between 3 to 4 hours to complete - though bits can be done it is designed to be a circular walk

Alternate parking can be found near #8 (RSPB car park) if you wish

Good luck and enjoy
