Manicken som står där på bergshällen och ser ut som nån slags
raket är i själva verket en fast positionerad GPS-mottagare som
tillhör det nationella nätverket SWEPOS. Med
långtidsmätningar kan man mäta på millimeternivå för att t.ex se
jordskorpans rörelser och för byggarbeten.
Just denna station är en av Sveriges 36 klass A-stationer.
Gemensamt för dessa är att de är fastgjora i berggrunden för
maximal precision och att de är rustade för maximal
tillförlitlighet. Det finns även klass B-stationer, som inte har
samma krav.
The strange widget on the bare rock that looks like a rocket is
in fact a fixed GPS receiver and is part of the national network
SWEPOS. By
measuring over time a position can be determined with an accuracy
down to millimeters. This is useful for example to monitor the
movement of the earths surface, and for construction work.
This particular station is one of 36 class A stations in Sweden.
These have in common that they are bolted into the bedrock for
maximum precision. They are also installed with maximum reliability
in mind. There are also class B stations that don't have as strict
requirements.
