Geocache Description:

A small camo'ed Lock & Lock.

Welcome to the least known part of the Stafford Hill Wildlife Management Area.

Trailhead cache for geocaches in a part of Cheshire that few people ever visit. You may have seen parts of it from the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail but I was surprised at how much navigable river is here. This is where I made my first trip in our new canoe, hoping to get far enough up the river to hide a cache. After an hour and a half I had to turn back so I could get to work on time.

This cache is terrain 5.0 because of the need for special equipment. Paddling to this one is equivalent to hiking to a terrain 3.0 cache.

The first three caches are winter friendly but the river is not.

This is a beautiful place, I know some of you will enjoy coming here, but these are physically demanding caches, they're not for everyone. It’s over three hours round trip (plus time spent searching) to get to all four caches from the parking I’ve listed. Paddling to all four will be equivalent to hiking to a terrain 4.0 cache

I don’t recommend using fragile or expensive watercraft, I do recommend ten inch or higher boots. You will be portaging beaver dams.

For those of you who said “...I had a feeling that new canoe would be trouble.” are you happy that you were right?

Congratulations to Rocking the Goat on the FTF!
